Real Time Processor(ARTESSO)

ARTESSO, Advanced Real Time Embedded Silicon System Operator, is a groundbreaking embedded system architecture that integrates a hard wired real time operating system (μITRON 4.0 compliant, http://www.ertl.jp/ITRON) and a 32 bit RISC CPU in an IP core. ARTESSO delivers levels of:
• quick real time response
• performance
• low power consumption
that would be unimaginable with conventional embedded systems.
RTOS, the hardware behind ARTESSO, has made super fast context switching possible. The system call operation speed of ARTESSO is several tens times to more than 200 times faster than a typical 32-bit embedded RISC processor with implemented typical RTOS. Therefore, ARTESSO can provide unprecedented performance in applications which often require system calls or require very frequent interrupts.
The types of applications which can maximize the performance of ARTESSO are those in the areas of data communications and networking, for example TCP/IP and wireless LAN. ARTESSO with TCP/IP protocol firmware achieves performance more than 15 times as fast as a conventional processor. Moreover, this opens up great possibilities for machine control applications, which require super high-speed response.
